After playing some Super Nintendo era games, I’m starting to wonder if too much emphasis is being placed on how long a game takes to finish these days. I’m not saying game length doesn’t matter, but there’s also the density of the experience to consider.

How much of that time is searching or making one’s way to the next thing to do? How much of it is spent watching loading screens and cut scenes? If a game advertises a sixty hour experience, what percentage of that is spent actually doing fun stuff?

Don’t get me wrong; I like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls and plenty of first person games, but I think I’m burned out on that sort of pacing at the moment. I originally speculated that I was just tired of 3D games, but I think it’s really the low density and general pacing of the experience that I’m tired of.

I am very much in agreement with this- my best RPG experiences are with the likes of Chronotrigger and it’s density, and other great games of the era. The slow pacing of more modern games is something I’m not a fan of, so I tend to limit myself to the few that are smaller and faster, like Portal.

Worn to MomoCon 2013

The original idea for this image came from the Sailor Moon references in Adventure Time and the art and character design of Natasha Allegri, who considers Sailor Moon to be a huge influence. From there, we saw the artwork of KnockMeOut, which you can see here: http://knockmeout.deviantart.com/art/Scouts-322189649
That inspired the color choices and general look of the outfit.

I love the idea of strong female characters, and I feel like both Adventure Time and Sailor Moon has that.

Might make this a finished product, but I had sudden feels after today’s EGS update.

Consider this a.. demographic check?  I dunno.  Any of you ship anyone in Antihero for Hire or Adventurers?  If so, who?

Well of course I do! Sparks x Crossroad, Crusade x Dechs, Earthquake x Dragon, probably some others…
